JACQUES KRUGER

Jacques matriculated at Paul Roos gymnasium in Stellenbosch and received both an Agricultural and a Cellar Technology Diploma from the Elsenburg Agricultural College in Stellenbosch.

He started his winemaking career as assistant winemaker at the well known Blaauwklippen Estate in Stellenbosch in 1981 and went on to become Manager Winemaker. His record during the 14 years period boasts numerous international and local awards, Veritas gold, and double gold medals, regular SAA listings and many other accolades.

It was during his 5 years stint as Wine Maker for an international group making wines for the export market that he decided it was time to make his dream of having his own cellar come true.

A powerful team was formed when friends Jacques and Adna Kruger, Pieter Taljaard and Hermann Helmbold bought Bernheim Wines in Paarl in time for the 2004 harvest season.

Jacques who, loves to spend as much time as possible with his wife and two daughters in touch with nature camping and touring through neighboring countries, believes in making wine naturally by assisting the grape to reach its full potential.
